Deception Technologies
Imagine wanting to secure a residential building with hundreds or residents. You can post a security guard to the front gate, you can add security cameras around the building, you can add motion sensors in emergence exits. In all of these methods the goal is to differentiate robbers from those who have a legitimate reason for entering the building such as residents, guests, maintenance staff, cleaners, or delivery guys.

Deception takes on a different approach of detection, we try to trick robbers by setting traps and making them think they got what they've been looking for.

Rather than setting up sensors, cameras, or security guards, we spread out expensive items robbers cannot resist. We can leave a fake diamond ring on a kitchen table, a fake Rolex on a desk, or a fake safe with an easy combination. Taking any of these items, would trigger an alert to security team.

End Point Deception
Deception Technologies work in a similar way to the previous example. At Sarab we've partnered with CyberTrap to provide advanced deception solutions that are compliant with Saudi NCA regulations.
Lures are setup on endpoints on throughout our clients' networks. These lures guide attackers to our isolated cloud environment, which we carefully built to mimic our clients' systems and services.
We then alert our clients of the breach when anyone communicates with any of these decoy systems, and from which endpoint the attack originated. We continue to monitor the attackers action and update our clients on the attackers activities on the decoy systems.
So, Honeypots?
Many people immediately think of honeypots (which, by the way, have been around for 25 years) when they hear “Deception”. The assumption is wrong.

Cybercriminals and IT security have evolved and it is no longer enough to know if someone has touched a honeypot. Honeypots are no longer up to date to answer the most urgent questions: who is why in my network, where does he come from, where does he want to go, and above all, how long has he been here? This is where Deception technology comes into play.
